Would you
take the mark
of the Beast?

I hear a lot of people adamantly say they would never take the mark of the beast some even going so far as to say it would not be a problem to simply say no and continue with their normal life. I have to wonder if the people making such statements have ever really thought about exactly what refusing the mark would mean even at a very high level or if anyone would even recognize the mark. For I highly doubt that Satan and his Minions will openly announce ALL the ramifications of taking the mark.

The basic biblical reference regarding the mark of the beast is located in revelations chapter 13.

Rev. 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev. 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save him that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Let us start with what an identification mark on a person use to mean.

In the old roman days, around the time of Christ, it was common for people of different groups to have a mark on them, for instance soldiers would often have a mark on their hand identifying that they were soldiers, as well as what group they belonged. Slaves would generally have a mark on their forehead indicating whom they belonged; other groups might have a mark on their arm indicating a religious status. So on and so forth.

In this writing I am not going to discuss what each type of mark meant. Basically from a high level overview the marks almost always indicated that the person possessing the mark was owned by, or that the person was a subordinate of, another group or person. And of course different marks carried different status and privileges for the person bearing the mark(s).

Today we must have government issued ID's and certificates for everything from driving, to working, to being taxed, to being allowed to travel, to go to school, even to acknowledged that we were born, so many government permits, forms, certificates that it sometimes feels like we need to get permits, id's, and permission from the government to simply breathe.

  • Suppose the government announces a new ID that is a simple all natural permanent ink stamp, no micro chips, no needles, just an applicator similar to a rubber stamp that could place the ID on one's hand or for people that have a disability (for example missing the right hand) the stamp could be placed on the forehead. This new ID is presented as a way to eliminate the need to physically carry so many ID's, Credit Cards, etc. and as a way to eliminate nearly all government related paperwork. Would you be willing to get this new ID?

  • Suppose a group of government officials show up at your child's school saying they are there to give everyone the new voluntary school/National ID mark free of charge. They continue explaining that since the mark is on your hand it cannot be lost or stolen along with how safe and convenient it will be. PLUS the officials explain, as an added bonus anyone that receives the new ID TODAY will get other FREE advantages, which will automatically be attached to the recipient's ID. For instance, a rather generous annual budget to purchase games, clothes, music, phones, movies, food, etc (basically anything a student might desire). How many students do you know that would not take this new type of student / National ID just to be able to get the free items?

  • The government starts issuing this new National ID which will, in time, link your credit cards, salary checks, tax reports, etc. to one central source. As a result, eliminating the need to fill out complicated forms. In short eliminating all paperwork from resumes to income tax everything happens automatically by simply scanning the ID. What if all the current id's, paperwork, credit cards, licenses, etc. could be consolidated into one personal ID, would you be willing to use the new national ID?

  • Suppose the government added additional incentives for instance free annual budget that could be used for anything the person receiving the new National ID wishes, IF one receives the ID stamp before a set date. Would you get the ID?

  • Would you give the National ID stamp to others if doing so meant you were not required to have the mark yourself?

  • Let us suppose the government starts to mandate the new National ID system is to be associated to your driving permit(s), would you take the mark to be able to drive?

  • What if the new National ID could be associated to new anti-theft devices that would prevent any vehicle you own from being started by anyone other than people with id stamps that you have authorized. Would you get the new ID? (of course something not so obvious this also means that without the National ID you could not start your own car.)

  • It later becomes policy that, in order for children to attend school the parents as well as the child must have the new National ID stamp. Would you and your child get the ID so that your child will be allowed to attend school?

  • What if not having the new ID stamp would prevent the use of computers or any other major electronic device?

  • Would you get the National ID to keep your Job, your home, you way of life?

  • What if the ID determined if one could enter public buildings, malls, office buildings, etc. (No ID no entry), would you get the ID?

  • What if not having the National ID would cause you to pay higher and extra taxes?

  • Would you get the new ID to avoid receiving fines and penalties?

  • Would you get the new ID stamp to avoid being arrested and spending time in jail?

  • If you were arrested and simply getting the ID would result in all charges being dropped, would you take the ID stamp to get out of jail and go on with your life?

  • Would you get the National ID stamp to get medical care in order to save your life?

  • Would you receive the ID stamp to get medical care in order to save the life of your child?

  • Would you receive the stamp in order get food for your family?

  • Would you receive the ID to get medicine for your family?

  • Would you take the ID mark to be able to travel freely to any city, on any street or on side walks?

  • Later it becomes mandatory to have the ID. If one is caught without the ID you will be arrested and sentenced to death if you do not receive the ID? Would you let them put the National ID on you?

How sure are you that you would not follow the government directives to have the National ID stamp placed on your right hand or forehead?

After all it is just a simple mark to help make our lives easier and better, besides it is in our best interest and it is the law. Correct?

Surely our government, local leaders, friends and even a lot of churches would not lie to us about all the ramifications of recieving such identifications.

Just as when the serpent in Eden did not lie when it told Eve she would not die if she ate the forbidden fruit. (well . . . at least not die at that moment.)

Or are we forgetting what it says in 2nd Corinthians chapter 11

2Co 11:14 And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 2Co 11:15 So it is not surprising if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. . . .

2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

2Co 11:15 Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; . . .

Just something to think about as we try to sleep at night.

May The Creator of The Universe, His Only Begotten Son Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit, guide, watch over and protect each of us. May Our Lord also help each of us to find the strength and courage to do what we must for His name's sake.
