First I am not going waste time and effort discussing the many misquotes and misinterpretations presented many religious groups, as well as "higher educated" scientists, as being the true meaning of The Bible, the ways of God and our universe in general. However, in my opinion, the misinformation is where a lot of the problems between Religion and Science originate, misquotes, misinterpretations, and sometimes just flat out lies from both extremes.

I always looked at religion and science this way:

Religion/The Bible tells us WHAT God did and is doing, while with science we try, with our very limited (yet expanding) knowledge, to figure out HOW Our Creator did everything.

To me there really is not a problem, until we get the whackos on both sides trying to make everything follow their narrow minded and sometimes bias/perverted view of the world around us.

As for logical thinking, which many say the bible and religion limits or even forbids. The bible actually strongly encourages logical and critical thinking for instance a couple of the most notable:

Proverbs: 14:15:
The simple believeth every word:
but the prudent man looketh well to his going. (KJV)
Or put another way.
A simple man believes every word he hears;
a clever man understands the need for proof. (New English Bible 1970)

I wont even get into all the references that so many groups ignore regarding testing for false profits and not following anyone blindly.

However one reference is:

Matthew 7:15-16:
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits: Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles:

As Christians we are required to watch, learn, question, use good common sense (judgment) and find the truth in all things. Granted, sometimes, easier said than done, be it in our education system, in our religious establishments, even when just dealing with the people around us, but finding and following the truth (which is honest and just) is what we are suppose to do.

Granted there are times we must all take leaps of faith (religious or not). If one really thinks about it, there are so many things we do without thinking and accept with "blind faith" every day that it is truly scary. Everything from the chair we are sitting on will not collapse or the floor we are walking on or the elevator will not fall. We take it on faith that the food we eat is reasonably safe. We even take it on faith that Internet communication will somehow work, though very few people really understand exactly how it all really works. We just take it on faith that when we hook everything up that it will work.

However, there are also times that we should all use every ounce of critical thinking/reasoning that we are capable. For be it science or religion both sides present us with incorrect information. Sometimes it is done intentionally, sometimes by mistake. Alas, as difficult as it is at times, it is ultimately up to each of us to find and follow the truth.

For the path of truth, REAL Truth, not 'opinion truth' or 'spin doctor truth', but the path of 100% honest truth is the path that Our Creator wants each of us to follow. Or put another way; do to others, as we want others to do to us.

By following that simple principle there is no conflict between Our Creator's way and Logical 'Scientific' thinking, it just becomes a problem when PEOPLE start wanting their own OPINIONS to carry more weight than the TRUTH.
