I heard an interesting story regarding people that think everything they do is so much better (holier) than everyone else. You know the type, the ones basically claiming that all that they do is so very good and perfect.

The following is a shortened, cleaned up version of the story:

A person was talking on and on about all the good stuff they have done and are doing. Adding that all those things will surly be pleasing to God and will surely help the person to find favor in God's eye.

Another person that was standing near by listening looked at the bragging person and asked, "Are you are talking about God . . . The Creator of The universe, the Father of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?"

The first person responded. "Yes." (With an "of course, who do you think I would be talking about" look on their face.)

The other person continued, "You do realize how much greater God is than we are? . . . Don't you? To put it in terms that you might be able to understand . . . the best things . . . the best of the best of things we can possibly do in comparison to Our Lord's righteousness . . . when we talk about how good we are. . is roughly comparable to a small child that has successfully completed using the bathroom on their own for the first time . . . then calling to their parents proudly saying, 'Look what I did.'"

The other person walking by the person that was bragging patted their head saying, "and we are very proud of you."
