Sometimes we all just have to ask for forgiveness.

I feel like I should add something to that statement, but, what else can be said?

We all make mistakes and we all have to deal with the burdens of our actions.

While the physical world and the people around us might forgive us, why is it that we still carry so many of the burdens and secrets, many which are long since past, with us?

Could it be, that our soul also has to be forgiven?

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your loving kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my misdeeds.

Wash away my guilt and Cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions. My sin is constantly before me. Against you, and you only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight; that you may be proved right in your charge, and just in passing sentence.

I was brought forth in iniquity. In sin my mother conceived me. Yet, though had hidden the truth in darkness, through his mystery thou dost teach me wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness, That the bones which you have broken may rejoice. Hide your face from my sins, And blot out all of my iniquities.

Create in me a clean and pure heart, O God, give me a renewed and steadfast spirit. Please, do not throw me from your presence and do not take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit.

I will teach your ways. So that others may learn to follow you. Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation.

My tongue shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

Lord, open my lips. My mouth shall declare your praise.

For you do not delight in sacrifice; if I brought thee a burnt offering, thou would not accept it. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit and a wounded heart. O God, please do not despise.

Let it be thy pleasure to do good to Zion, to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Then you will delight in the sacrifices of righteousness.

The above was from Psalms 51.

May your heart be opened and the burdens of your soul lifted.
